This is a catalogue for the Jack Ginsberg Centre for the Book Arts exhibition. The exhibition consists of a hundred fine artists’ books by the artists Robbin Ami Silverberg, Veronika Schapers, and Julie Chen. The cover design and overall design is inspired by the diverse quadrilateral shapes or the geometric shapes of artists’ book. I noticed that they varied from very long, to short, tall, square, and small which is what is being depicted with all the shapes on the cover. The colours chosen were partly inspired by the artists’ works and by the Japandi design style. This style consists of Japanese and Scandinavian styles that are described to bring minimalism, functionality, intentionality, and natural elements to a design. Elements which I intended to use for the catalogue. My concept is clean and simple, including textures which are really important for book artists’ who intend to have their books touched. I also wanted to go with a delicate, feminine look and feel because all of the artists are females and I thought it would reinforce the minimalistic and natural look to the design.
